Illawarra Photography Lessons

Basics in Photography (One on One) - with Australian landscape photographer Brad Chilby. 

When: I run the basics in photography lessons: Monday to Thursday at 5.30pm in the Illawarra region. 

Where: I hold lessons at Wollongong Harbour, Towradgi Beach, Thirroul Beach, Sublime Point or Como, Sutherland. I also offer lessons on the South Coast and in the Southern Highlands area on request although a travel fee may be included, availability is limited outside of the Illawarra.  Please contact me to organise a time and location for your lesson.

Length of Lesson: 1 hour/15mins per lesson.

What to bring - Your camera, your tripod, a fully charged battery, a memory card and a note pad. If you have any camera accessories such as filters or a remote shutter release, please bring these along also.

Group Size - One on one or a small group (max 5 people) can be organised.

Learn about - Introduction to the functions of your camera including, back menu settings, composition, light and weather conditions, ISO, aperture, shutter control, white balance plus more.

Sunset Photography Lessons (One on One)  - with Australian Landscape Photographer - Brad Chilby.

When: I run sunset photography lessons: Monday to Thursday in the in the Illawarra region starting 1 hour prior to sunset. 

Where: I regularly service the Northern Illawarra and Wollongong areas. I also offer lessons in the Sutherland Shire, On the South Coast and in the Southern Highlands area on request although a travel fee may be included, availability is limited outside of the Illawarra.  Please contact me to organise a time and location for your lesson.

Length of Lesson: 1 hour/15mins per lesson.

When: I run sunrise photography lessons: Monday to Friday starting at first light in the Illawarra region. 

Where: I regularly service the Northern Illawarra and Wollongong areas. Northern Illawarra Photography Lesson (One on One - Full Day) - with Australian Landscape Photographer - Brad Chilby.                                                                                        

About: This tour is a guided tour that shows you the best of the Northern Illawarra region from Stanwell Park to Wollongong. Your tour guide is Australian landscape photographer Brad Chilby who is a 7th generation local resident and his family were one of the first to settle in the region. Brad is also a local historian so learn what he knows about the area plus get an in depth photography lesson. The day starts at 10.00am with a basics lesson running through all of the settings at Sublime Point, Bulli Tops along with some photos from a hidden lookout nearby. The next  stop includes photos at Maddens Falls followed by an included lunch. We then head to Bald Hill at Stanwell Tops for some more spectacular scenery followed by Sea Cliff bridge and Wombarra Ocean Pool where you will get shots from hidden vantage points. Finally we head to Little Austinmer beach for sunset photos where the tour will end and you will then be dropped off at your car at Bulli Tops. You will be sure to take home many great photos suitable to hang on your wall.

When: I run full day photography lessons on Weekends starting at 11am.

Where: The meeting point is at Panorama House, Bulli Tops. Free pickups are available in the Northern Illawarra and Sutherland Shire region upon request.

Length of Lesson: 8 hour full day photography adventure Difficulty Rating - 3 (Scale: 1 = Easy / 5  = Difficult ) Fitness Level - You will need a basic level of fitness. The trip includes plenty of stops and rest breaks.

What to bring - Your camera, your tripod, a fully charged battery, a memory card, old shoes. If you have any camera accessories such as filters or a remote shutter release, please bring these along also. You may also like to bring an old pair of shoes, sunscreen and water.

Southern Illawarra Photography Lesson (One on One - Full Day) - with Australian Landscape Photographer - Brad Chilby.                                                                                      

About: This tour is a guided tour that shows you the best of the Southern Illawarra region, including Kiama, Shellharbour and Port Kembla areas. Your tour guide is Australian landscape photographer Brad Chilby who is a 7th generation local Wollongong resident. His family were one of the first to settle in the region. Brad is also a local historian so learn what he knows about the area plus get an in depth photography lesson. The day starts at 11.00am with a basics lesson at Port Kembla beach, followed by photos at nearby Fisherman's beach. We then go to the harbour of Port Kembla for some industrial photos and whilst at Port Kembla we have an included lunch in the area before heading to Killalea beach at Shellharbour folllowed by Cathedral Rocks and Bombo Quarry at Kiama. We then have a quick stop at Kiama blowhole before heading back to Port Kembla beach for sunset at which point you will be dropped back at your car.

When: I run full day photography lessons on Weekends starting at 11am.

Where: The meeting point is Jones Beach (Just 90 mins from Sydney). Free pickups are available in the Illawarra region upon request.
